I have been drag racing my LC with some reasonable success and considering the build of the engine it has been better than expectations.
My goal was a 13.5 second 1/4 from holden parts and running gear, I easily exceeded this with a 13.19@103.21 and I was using an open diff and street Potenza tires.

Since then I have now upgraded the front brakes to HQ and the diff to an uncut Hilux which is considerably heavier and uses Hilux housing and axles, Hiace Brakes and a Supra Turbo diff head with Hiace 3.9 gears. So far since the upgrades I have run a 13.3 but feel its close to breaking the 13.19 time as I can launch so much harder and have had several launches of 1.9 to the 60ft.

Hi thanks.
I have bought and sold bits and pieces to help fund this and used some second hand parts as well as modified some existing parts.
Stock Black Motor block and bottom end with secondhand unused flat top pistons. The head was on an EFI engine I bought secondhand which came also with all the factory EFI gear and W55 Toyota box and I paid NZ$600 which I tuned to a 14.3@98mph. I was suprised when I pulled it apart to find an original 12-port Yella Terra.
Ignition is VH Commodore
Flywheel and clutch are modified factory units
Gearbox is an $80 factory M20
Carbs are 3 x secondhand Webers 45DCOEs
I did a few mods to the crankshaft myself
The cam is brand new and designed to suit the other components
Solid lifters and a cheap set of roller rockers mated to 186 pushrods

Thanks mate... I have been told similar as well, I guess the thought I put behind the parts and how to modify them has helped. A 12 would make me over the moon as all I aimed for was consistant mid 13's as I always intended this as a club circuit car that I can drive on the road.

If this makes sense, its not as much fun on the street as its so dam quick to 60mph, it only takes around 5 seconds and 100mph in about 12 so I decided to upgrade the brakes and stops very strong now :)
