The Holden Commodore V6 was introduced to Australia in the Holden VN Commodore in 1988.The engine was based on the American design Buick engine that had been used as an east/west engine for many years. This is why the first of the v6 powered commodores had the Thermo housing at the rear of the engine. When the series 2 VN hit the market the thermostat housing was moved to the front of the engine.
